Childerwood Nature Park

What exciting news! The park has been awarded a large sum of money from lottery funds to improve the park. This will hopefully help it to attract more visitors.
The first job that needed doing was a new adventure playground. A company called Playstuff agreed to make climbing frames out of natural materials, like wooden logs, as long as they had detailed plans to follow. Childerwood employees set to work straight away and designed some great equipment!

The group of boys are making a small model for playstuff .

This is Aby making a triangular prism.
Katie is making a cube.

This is Rebecca and Becky making a cuboid and a pyramid.

The finished designs!

Hard working Childerwood employees are now trying to sort out the animal pens before our rabbits, chickens, guinea pigs and goats arrive. So much to do!

We're on the news ... in France!

We have all enjoyed videoconferencing and making new friends in France. On Thursday night, some of us stayed after school to play a game of Guess Who. In France, there were some very important people watching, like the Deputy, the Mayor, reporters and lots of parents. We were on the news in France!

Our presentations!

It has been a little while since we did this, but we thought you might like to see what happened when we created a newspaper and DVD for our friends in other countries.

We hope you enjoy some of our photostories too.

Videoconferencing

We have ben videoconferencing with the children from Ecole Darois in Dijon! We have been asking and answering questions in French and in English. Our class has learned a French song calles 'Au Texas' and the French class have been learning 'I can see clearly now'. Monsier Pont - who is the headteacher - had a great idea for us to play a game of 'Guess Who' so some of us dressed up in disguise!

Bugs!

During our sustainable school's week we made a bug sculpture and a bug hotel! Chris - from Roots and Shoots at Holt Hall - came to help us with the bug hotel. Peter, who is an environmental artist, helped us create the bug sculpture. They look great don't they!
